CATCH is looking for a relationship-driven fundraiser who believes that everyone deserves a home and wants to help make it happen. The Major Gifts Officer will build and manage a portfolio of 50-75 donors, deepening relationships that create welcome home moments for families across the Treasure Valley. The Major Gifts Officer will work closely with the Director of Development and other team members to develop and execute strategies that will help us achieve our fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Donor Identification and Cultivation - (40% of time)
- Manage a portfolio of 50-75 individual donors, with an initial focus on donors giving $1,000-$5,000 annually and identified pathways to grow giving through strategic cultivation over time.
- Identify donors in the broader database who show signals of readiness for deeper engagement, including giving frequency, gift size increases, event attendance, and responsiveness to outreach.
- Develop and execute personalized cultivation strategies for each portfolio donor, ensuring every donor has a defined next step and next action date.
- Conduct face-to-face meetings and calls per week with portfolio donors to build relationships, share impact, and deepen connection to CATCH's mission.
- Solicitation and Fundraising (30% of time)
- Personally solicit gifts in the $1,000-$50,000 range through in-person meetings, personalized proposals, and phone conversations. Initial focus will be on building and deepening relationships with donors giving $1,000-$5,000, with the expectation of growing gift size through cultivation over time.
- Develop tailored proposals and ask strategies based on each donor's giving history, capacity, affinity, and relationship depth.
- Support the Director of Development and Executive Director on other tasks as needed, including preparation of proposals and meeting support.
- Donor Stewardship (15% of time)
- Provide personal stewardship touches to portfolio donors including thank-you calls, handwritten notes, and impact updates that connect each donor's gift to specific outcomes.
- Execute timely acknowledgment for every gift, ensuring donors feel valued within 48 hours of giving.
- Attend CATCH events as a cultivation and stewardship opportunity, using them to deepen relationships with portfolio donors and identify new prospects.
- Develop and maintain a stewardship calendar for portfolio donors, ensuring consistent touchpoints throughout the year that are not limited to solicitation periods.
- Collaboration and Strategy Development (10% of time)
- Partner with the Director of Development to support overall major gifts strategy, including pipeline development, portfolios, and donor graduation from annual giving to major gifts.
- Participate in weekly portfolio review meetings with the Director of Development to assess progress, adjust strategies, and prioritize next actions.
- Support fundraising campaigns and activations as a relationship touchpoint, not as an event planner. Provide additional event support as needed.
- Tracking and Reporting (5% of time)
- Maintain detailed contact reports in Bloomerang within 24 hours of every donor meeting, call, or meaningful interaction.
- Track portfolio activity weekly including donor stage, next action, next action date, and solicitation readiness for every donor in the portfolio.
- Prepare monthly reports for the Director of Development showing progress toward revenue goals, meetings completed, proposals outstanding, and gifts closed.
- Use data to identify trends in donor behavior and recommend strategies for increased engagement and giving.

- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on donor relationship management and gift solicitation.
- Experience cultivating donor relationships that resulted in upgraded giving over time.
- Comfortable with in-person and phone asks. This is a relationship role, not a desk role.
- Experience or interest in nonprofit organizations, particularly those addressing homelessness, housing, or social services, is highly desirable.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of donor stewardship practices and moves management frameworks.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of 50-75 donors with disciplined weekly tracking of next actions.
- High level of professionalism and discretion in managing confidential donor information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and donor management software (Bloomerang preferred).
