Location: Tyler, TX (UT Health East Texas)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Start Date: May 4, 2026

Schedule: 5x8-Hour Shifts — Monday through Friday

Shift: Days | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (actual shifts run 10 hours with a rotating day off)

Pay Rate: $2,366/week (40 hours)

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join the surgical team at a Level I Trauma Center in Tyler, TX — a high-volume, 14-room OR performing approximately 45 cases per day across a broad range of surgical specialties. In this role, you will scrub and/or circulate on cases spanning Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular, and Urology, with preferred experience in Da Vinci Robotics, endovascular, and ophthalmology serving as a strong bonus. Call requirements are minimal — just 1–2 shifts every 6 weeks. Travel experience is preferred for this assignment.

UT does not contract travelers residing in the following counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris.

Requirements

• Active Texas RN license (must be currently active)
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
• Travel experience preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience in Ortho, General Surgery, Neuro, Vascular, and Urology required
• Da Vinci Robotics, endovascular, and ophthalmology experience preferred
• Must not reside in excluded counties (see note above)

Skills & Competencies

• Orthopedic surgery: total joint replacement, arthroscopy, open/closed reduction of fractures
• General surgery: cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colon resection, Whipple, thyroidectomy, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures
• Neurosurgery: craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar/anterior cervical fusion, ALIF, XLIF, kyphoplasty
• Vascular surgery: carotid endarterectomy, carotid artery stenting, AAA repair, femoral popliteal bypass, AV fistula repair
• Urology: cystoscopy, prostatectomy, nephrectomy, TURP, laparoscopic cases
• Robotic surgery (preferred): Da Vinci colorectal, GI, gynecologic, neurological, orthopedic, urologic, and TORS
• Ophthalmology (preferred): cataract extraction/implant, eye trauma, glaucoma surgery
• 1:1 patient ratio scrub and circulating roles
• Epic EMR documentation

• Float: Not required
• Weekend Coverage: 2 shifts per contract
• Pre-Approved Time Off: 2 requests
• Orientation: 36 hours

Travel Contract Details

• 13-week assignment with potential for extension
