Group Therapy Facilitator - High Acuity Adolescent

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Group Therapy Facilitator to lead group therapy sessions for adults within our behavioral health program. This role is vital in providing engaging, evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to adults experiencing a range of mental health and substance use concerns. The facilitator will create a safe, supportive environment that encourages personal growth, accountability, resilience, and recovery while utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches and maintaining clinical and ethical standards.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with adults from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of clinical needs. This position works closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, client-centered care and support each individual’s treatment goals.

Duties

• Lead and facilitate engaging group therapy sessions for adults with mental health and/or substance use concerns, incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed interventions, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and other appropriate group therapy techniques.
• Complete clinical assessments and intake evaluations as appropriate to help identify client needs and inform individualized treatment planning.
• Utilize trauma-informed care and crisis intervention techniques to appropriately respond to emotional or behavioral concerns and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Develop and facilitate structured, clinically appropriate group activities and discussions focused on mental health, coping skills, emotional regulation, relationships, communication, relapse prevention, life skills, and personal growth.
• Collect, document, and maintain accurate clinical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and other required documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and applicable clinical standards.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members, including therapists, psychiatrists, case managers, medical staff, and other behavioral health professionals, to coordinate care and support client recovery.
• Establish strong therapeutic relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Provide psychoeducation and practical coping strategies that help clients develop the skills necessary to manage symptoms and function more effectively in their daily lives.
• Address behavioral and interpersonal challenges through conflict resolution, appropriate behavioral interventions, and culturally responsive counseling approaches.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and other clinical or operational meetings as needed.
• Maintain a professional, supportive, and recovery-oriented group environment while ensuring groups remain structured, productive, and clinically appropriate.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with adults in mental health, substance use, behavioral health, or community-based care settings.
• Strong understanding of mental health and/or substance use disorders and the challenges commonly experienced by adults in treatment.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation, data collection, medical terminology, and electronic health record (EHR) systems while maintaining HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and group therapy.
• Experience conducting or assisting with mental health assessments, treatment planning, case management, and crisis intervention.
• Ability to work effectively with adults experiencing complex mental health conditions, trauma, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage clients, facilitate meaningful group discussions, and establish appropriate therapeutic relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional when managing conflict, emotional distress, or crisis situations.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries while creating a supportive and respectful therapeutic environment.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, social, and personal backgrounds.
• Familiarity with addiction counseling, relapse prevention, motivational interviewing, trauma-focused interventions, and gender-related counseling is a plus.
• Christian counseling experience or familiarity with faith-based approaches is a plus.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
