What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist--Day Shift position at Cataler North America?
As the Safety Specialist, you will assist the Safety and Environmental Officer to support a comprehensive Safety and Environmental program for the Cataler North America locations in Lincolnton and Hickory (Day Shift: 11am-7:30pm Monday thru Friday)
You will provide effective communications and trainings to ensure a safe and healthful workplace for our associates. You will prioritize compliance with applicable safety regulations/requirements to reduce current and future risks/ liabilities. You will have close interaction with all levels to ensure a unified safety message. You will use multiple programs within Microsoft including Power Point, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local and Cataler requirements and policies.
- Assist with safety compliance and management system functions.
- Develop effective training materials, delivering instructor led training, training record management and new employee safety training.
- Perform safety initiatives that include job analysis and risk assessments.
- Review incident reports, investigations, and corrective actions using investigative methods (5-Why and Root-Cause).
- Participate with internal audits and self-assessments.
- Effective and proactive interaction with employees and leadership to promote a positive CNA Safety culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or 2-4 years related experience and/ or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA) to support investigations and corrective actions.
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to multitask in multiple programs.
- Provide effective, strong communication and support to management and employees across a variety of safety related issues.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines.
- Above average proficiency in the use of computers and programs like MS office products that include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
