What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Cataler North America?
Cataler North America is a Toyota affilitate and we are currently seeking a Buyer to join our team
The position hours are: M-F, 8a - 5p
Job duties include:
Oversees raw material ordering and inventory management; enters or tracks usage and requirement data through spreadsheet, ERP or database; issues material forecasts and periodically compares forecast to actual requirements.
Monitors supplier delivery performance and issues monthly report on same; follows up on delivery failures with suppliers, seeking resolution and counter-measure as appropriate; periodically visits and conducts supplier audits, focusing on supplier development.
Interfaces with suppliers to confirm competitive, accurate pricing and correct invoicing; ensures clear communication of specifications, requirements and delivery expectations via purchase orders and/or material releases; ensures acceptance of order by suppliers or seeks to resolve discrepancies; negotiates pricing where feasible.
As applicable, ensures company requirements, including Terms & Conditions, Quality and Environmental Management System requirements, are clearly communicated to and met by suppliers.
Actively participates in departmental cost-reduction activities and goals; tracks and periodically reports to management on cost-reduction results.
Inputs requirements to ERP system to generate orders or releases; ensures all requirements from suppliers are documented and communicated by fax, e-mail or other means.
Works with APQP team to establish new materials and suppliers; sets up new materials in ordering system, and fills material pipeline as required.
Confirms or works with Receiving to confirm inventory of direct and indirect materials daily.
Works to develop appropriate levels of stock at point-of-use, storage indication and usage; follows up with departments on abnormal usage and/or loss concerns.
Establishes reorder systems, visual controls and maintains JIT goals.
Oversees activity relating to non-inventory and/or MRO items--including ordering, negotiating and sourcing.
Requirements:
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Organizational Management.
Lean manufacturing knowledge.
Toyota Production System knowledge preferred.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
