JOB TITLE: English Learner Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Curriculum and Federal Programs
SALARY: Based on State and Local Salary Schedule
STATUS: 10 months
SUMMARY: An EL Coordinator in schools manages, develops, and oversees English as a Second Language (EL) programs to ensure students with limited English proficiency receive appropriate instruction and support.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Provides an organized program to assist in the successful delivery of educational services to English Language Learners (ELLs)
- Assists in the implementation, oversight, and evaluation of the NC SIOP Model
- Plans, coordinates, and facilitates the W-APT testing program and the ACCESS for ELLs testing program
- Holds regular meetings with staff for the ESL, Migrant and regular school programs
- Assists with Hispanic parenting components (council, conferences, Multicultural night)
- Facilitates ELL staff development for ESL and regular classroom teachers
- Assists with database management of student records and required reporting issues
- Attends state, regional and local conferences, meetings, and webinars pertaining to the ESL program, as needed
- Analyzes and evaluates student data
- Monitors ELL Educational Plans for LEP students
- Assists with LEP Headcount
- Performs all other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in Education or related field, preferred
- Current North Carolina Teacher Licensure
- Minimum five years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred

- Thorough knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
- Experience in promoting a successful collaborative educational environment
- Knowledge of state and local testing requirements
- Proficient technology skills
- Effective application and integration of technology and online resources with instruction
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective presentation and facilitation skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds or more at times.
