POSITION PURPOSE:
The general purpose of the position is to set up and administer assessments for multilingual
( ML) students for their English language abilities. Working with students arriving from outside of the county and enrolling them into our schools. The position will be part of and support the central ML Department.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Advanced oral Bilingual language skills with intermediate or higher biliterate language skills in both English and Spanish.
- Minimum High school diploma or above educational level. Preferred Associate’s diploma or Bachelor’s coursework/degree.
- Education, school system, and/or some testing experience is preferred, but bot required.
- Experience in a dynamic office team environment with collaboration and communication.
- Highly organized, strong time management skills, and with meticulous attention to detail.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The ML Department’s central WIDA Language Testing responsibilities described below. This includes being the Lead Test Administrator for the WIDA Kindergarten Screener and the WIDA Screener Grades 1-12, WIDA Screener (paper-based), WIDA Alternate Screener as well as supporting the Director of MLs on the school-based annual WIDA ACCESS Test and WIDA Kindergarten test as assigned.
- Setting up the WIDA Screener Master Testing Schedule in the summer prior to the start of each school year with testing dates, sessions, Lead Test Administrator, Language Support (with one of the ML Departments’ district interpreter-translators), testing rooms booked. Inventory and secure all testing materials for the following school year testing calendar through the Testing & Accountability Dept.
- Managing and securing all test materials including chrome books, testing manuals, writing test packets, scoring sheets, test tickets, etc.
- Calling parents of newly enrolled students to schedule the weekly WIDA Screener Language Testing in one-one-one (Ks only) or small/large group settings (for the other WIDA Tests).
- Facilitate and Lead at least 1 group test session weekly during the school year along with individual test sessions when necessary for K students and some EC-MLs requiring specific test accommodations. All group test sessions are scheduled at Sellars Gunn Academy. Most individual test sessions will be scheduled at Sellars Gunn Academy with the exception of some at the school site for families with transportation hardships or schools without a current ML teacher to administer the WIDA K Screener.
- Schedule a collaborative school-based meeting with school administration, EC staff and ML teacher(s) prior to screening a possible EC-ML student to determine eligibility for the WIDA Screener (paper-based) or the WIDA Alternate Screener . After the initial meeting a summary of the findings and decision will be sent to all members of the collaborative meeting.
- Scoring all WIDA Language Tests in a timely manner. Initial and ongoing training will be provided by the Director of MLs. An annual certification quiz is necessary through the WIDA website.
- Sending direct email communication to all ML Department and individual school site stakeholders regarding the Language Test results that determine ML Identification and related ML Services
- The annual ACCESS Test (February/March) is school based and led by the ML Director and ABSS Testing Department. The ML teachers are trained to administer the ACCESS Tests at their own schools. Whereby an ML teacher vacancy may be present, both Outside Testers, the ML Director, and/or the Enrollment Language Tester will fill in where necessary to administer these assessments.
- Serving as the backup ACCESS Test Trainer to the ML Director in case of illness or for small group makeup sessions.
- Waiting on the potential 9th grade Transcript Analysis process Interview Questions and direct communication and collaboration with the ML Specialists when scheduling the high school students requiring WIDA Language Testing. These results impact the grade placement for the WIDA Screener assessment.
