About the Role

Castle Pierce is in growth mode and is seeking an experienced Lead Prepress Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for producing and optimizing graphics for well-known brands & customers ensuring precision and consistency to the highest quality standards. The Lead Prepress Technician will accurately revise artwork based on brand and industry print expectations, while adhering to ever-changing deadlines and production schedules. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on multiple designs for different customers at any given time and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Responsibilities:
- Collect, read, and understand provided information from the job ticket, instructions, notes, and email while questioning completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Preflight supplied files using appropriate software (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) & provide quality feedback to account services regarding printability issues.
- Assist with artwork or file set up related questions from the sales team or directly from customers.
- Edit supplied files or create artwork files to meet customer expectations, press specifications, and production requirements.
- Ability to convert Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Indesign artwork files to production-ready files.
- Knowledge of trapping & how to trap manually in Illustrator or automatically in Esko software.
- Able to build files that include spot coatings, spot colors, foils, white backup & other print embellishments.
- Must follow standard operating procedures and practices to ensure consistent and uniform quality of files.
- Output proofs or mockups to proofing devices and assemble if needed.
- Ability to complete work accurately in a time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to work as a team player who enjoys a collaborative deadline-driven environment with a superior focus on detail.
- Flexibility is key in this position and requires the ability to switch priorities at any moment to meet customer needs.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree, 2 year college or technical school, or work equivalent in a graphic arts/prepress related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Prepress role.
- Intermediate understanding of printing and/or packaging methods.
- Knowledge of Flexographic printing, including Adobe Photoshop image manipulation for Flexo printing.
- Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop required.
- Esko Prepress Software knowledge using Automation Engine Pilot.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook & Excel
- Knowledge of both Mac & PC platforms and font software.
This is not a creative design position & requires a daily commute to our office located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and is not eligible for remote employment.
