About the Role
The Senior Buyer plays a key role in supporting a precision manufacturing operation by ensuring materials, services, and supplies are sourced at the right cost, quality, and time. This role goes beyond transactional purchasing and focuses on supplier relationships, cost‑of‑ownership analysis, forecasting, and proactive risk management to support production, customer commitments, and margin goals.
The Senior Buyer works closely with internal teams and external suppliers to anticipate needs, manage inventory flow, and resolve issues before they impact operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and strengthen supplier relationships to improve cost, reliability, and delivery performance
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with suppliers
- Perform supplier performance reviews, pricing analysis, and total cost‑of‑ownership assessments
- Evaluate material price changes and assess impact on product margins
- Support production through demand forecasting, blanket purchase orders, and inventory planning
- Convert approved requisitions into purchase orders and track open items to completion
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to anticipate material needs and prevent shortages
- Follow up with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, invoice, or shipping discrepancies
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risk related to pricing volatility or disruptions
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate pricing, cost drivers, and operational impact
- Effective communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems

Preferred Qualifications
- ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management) certification or equivalent
- Experience with JobBOSS or similar manufacturing ERP systems
- Experience leveraging technology or AI tools to support purchasing or analysis
