BLS & ACLS within six months of hire

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of an Arrhythmia Analysis Course

Completion of in-service for child/adult abuse reporting

2 years clinical experience in a Med/Surg setting and/or ICU setting

Essential Job Functions
-
Demonstrates the ability to accurately recognize and identify cardiac rhythms implementing appropriate nursing care according to hospital policies and ACLS protocol.

Uses the nursing process to develop and implement the Individual Treatment Plan of Care, evaluating individual risk factors for Coronary Artery Disease and providing education to the patient, family and/or caregiver, and amending the Plan of Care to meet individual needs.

Performs procedures according to policy and accurately administers medications as ordered by the physician.

Attends continuing education seminars to maintain current competency in cardiovascular care and concepts and seeks opportunities to increase knowledge and skills.

Uses critical thinking skills to recognize changes in patient status and reports and documents pertinent observations. Collaborates with physician, supervisor and other clinical personnel on cases identified as high risk for safety, disease process or other circumstances that may affect patient , family, staff or community and provides follow up to assure resolution.

Follows established infection control/universal precautions to optimally protect self and the patients receiving care.

Demonstrates ability to function in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations.

Participates as a team member in providing and coordinating patient care and services, demonstrating tact, tolerance, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude.

Maintains knowledge base regarding hospital philosophy, departmental policy and procedures and customer service standards and attends a minimum of 50% unit staff meetings to maintain awareness of job-related issues.

Completes and maintains clinical records accurately and timely according to hospital policy and respects and maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital information.

Perform all other duties as assigned.
