What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vector Lead Field Aide position at Cass County Government?
HOURLY RATE: $21.34-$23.38*
Cass County Vector Control is looking for seasonal supervisory employees. Our seasonal Vector Lead Field Aide staff carry out a variety of tasks supervising one of our four crews to help field aides mitigate mosquitoes:
A high school diploma is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the date of hire. Direct Deposit is required. You must be able to lift 40lbs.
Applicants of any background are encouraged to apply. Desirable qualifications include post-secondary coursework in a related science field and/or at least one season of mosquito control experience.
Experience in the following areas is beneficial, but not required:
-ATV riding
-Pesticide handling/applying
-Spray equipment operating
-Insect research
-Sample standing water for larval mosquitoes
-Apply pesticides in various environments
-Operate trucks, ATV's, and UTV's to assist in pesticide applications
-Separate and identify different species of adult mosquitoes from mosquito traps
-Maintain records and equipment
-Management
-Training/coaching

*Starting compensation for Lead Field Aides is $21.34/hr at step 1. Steps 2 and 3 are $22.36/hr and $23.38/hr. Consideration for steps 2 and 3 requires experience in mosquito control or as a biological field technician, and knowledge of pesticide handling. Steps 4-12 require direct experience working for Cass County Vector Control and caps out at $29.47/hr.
Employees would need to be local or be able to commute to West Fargo for shifts that typically run 6am to 4:45pm Monday through Thursday. Occasional evening shifts are likely but rare.
*While this position is temporary, 40-hour work weeks are the norm and should be expected.
