POSITION SUMMARY


The Installation Crew Lead coordinates with the Foreman and/or Landscape Designer to install and maintain gardens, lawns, hardscapes, patios, lawn furniture, irrigation systems, and other related fixtures and appendages on residential and commercial properties. When a Manager is off-site the Crew Lead is expected to take leadership and responsibility of the project. The Crew Lead is also expected to lead occasional projects from start to finish without direct supervision. The Crew Lead is responsible for beginning and end of day tasks.


Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Implements detailed landscape plans, reads and follows scale drawings and cross-section designs
  • Supervises the planting and propagating bedding plants; may manage greenhouse operations, as applicable. 
  • Responsible to correctly identify utility markings and adherence to safe digging regulations.
  • Direct activities on the job site including but not limited to: coordinating workflow, hands on work, and operating a variety of machinery.
  • Performs perc tests and instructs clients through the process of performing one.
  • Performs and coordinates a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in outdoor projects and worksites
  • Supervises the pick-up and disposes of litter.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and safe job site.
  • Operates heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, mini excavators, and skid steer machinery with various attachments.
  • Responsible for the safe loading and unloading of vehicles, operation of equipment, hauling, material handling and storage
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Excellent attention to detail while working in a fun & fast paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Able to work effectively with individuals of varying skill levels and backgrounds.
  • Clean and professional appearance.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Promotes and maintains a positive attitude and provides exceptional customer service.
  • May assist in various other activities as required such as light administrative work (hours tracking and reporting, inventorying materials)
  • Reads and interprets safety/employment manuals and other work-related documents

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

 

  •  High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Expert knowledge of plants, transplants, fertilizes, applies chemicals, waters, prunes, and weeds flower beds, plant areas, horticulture methods and materials, landscaping and cultivation of trees and woody plants.
  • Expert knowledge to maintains flowers, bushes, trees, and shrubs.
  • Ability to identify soil types and accurately assess correct amendments.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to perform and supervise grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Skill in interpreting and completing landscape plans.
  • Knowledge of fertilizer and/or pesticide applications.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
  • Highly motivated, self – driven individual who is detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to both employees and clients.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to interpret, understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects at least 25lbs and up to 50lbs, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object. Excellent stamina is required.
