Casella Construction is looking to add new members to our Heavy Construction Laborer Teams! The Heavy Construction Laborer performs a wide range of physical labor tasks in support of workers on the construction site. Casella Construction provides unique construction projects that allow for hands-on learning and the opportunity to be a part of a team that oversees a project from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
- Assist fellow employees as assigned. This may include jobs such as demolition, carrying equipment, or construction materials
- Unload materials and distribute them to appropriate locations as identified by supervisor, project plans, or specifications
- Prepare layout area where work will take place by properly measuring, marking, or recording opening or distances
- Prepare tools and materials for fellow employees
- Manually digging trenches; cleaning up rubble, debris, and trash; or removing materials
- Operate a wide variety of hand and power fools
- Direct traffic near, in, or around working zones
- Properly completes daily paperwork
- Motion equipment operator to assist with alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials
- Clean jobsites at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials or equipment are properly stored
- Assist team with proper equipment care
- Maintains a safe work environment.
- Responsible for the proper maintenance of all tools and equipment.
- Spreads gravel, asphalt, and other materials over surfaces.
- Installs water and or sewer lines as assigned or directed.
- Follows instructions verbally and in written form and perform tasks with little to no supervision.
- Training requirements, both in person and online, as needed or required
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Winter Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Requires the ability to plow snow during the winter months across various locations in the state of Vermont and New Hampshire.
- Must be able to operate snow removal equipment such as snowplows, salt spreaders, and snow blowers.
- Must be proficient in handling both light and heavy-duty vehicles equipped for snow removal, ensuring safe and clear passage on roads and pathways.
- Must be able to work in cold weather conditions and perform physical labor as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High School or GED preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to remain flexible as assignments change.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with coworkers and supervisor.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must be able to work some weekends and or nights, when needed.
- Must be able to travel out of town for a day and or a week.
- Ability to participate in regulatory trainings (First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, Flagging, Spotter, HAZWOPER).
- Familiar with safety protocols.
- Proficiency in math and reading
Desired Qualification:
- Experience in a construction laborer role preferred
- Experience with HDPE welding and water/sewer pipe installation.
- Experience with concrete finishing.
- Experience with building demolition.
- Experience with construction jobsite layouts and grading.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb inclines for the duration of the shift.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Hourly Hiring Range: $20.37/hr. - $28.08/hr.
