The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is a self-starter who is responsible for a wide range of seasonal maintenance tasks and upkeep of multiple commercial properties in Rutland, Vermont. Responsibilities include sweeping parking lots and walkways, litter pickup, emptying trash receptacles, general repairs, snow removal, and management of subcontractors. The person in the position will exhibit ambition, aptitude, and a desire to learn. Reports directly to the Construction Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Performs grounds maintenance including sweeping parking lots and walkways, litter pickup, emptying trash receptacles, general repairs including repairs to curbs, walkways, signs, and the general site.
- Performs snow removal operations during the winter months.
- Executes light carpentry repairs and general facilities maintenance tasks.
- Maintains and repairs equipment, as necessary.
- Adapts and improvises to address unforeseen facility maintenance challenges.
- Ensures the overall cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the properties.
- Communicates effectively with facility managers and their team members.
- Maintains accurate records of facilities maintenance activities.
- Performs administrative responsibilities as requested.
- Ability to interface with subcontractors as necessary and identify preventive maintenance tasks.
- Training requirements, both in person and online, as needed or required.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Prefer at least three years of facilities maintenance experience.
- Experience operating maintenance equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to drive company truck and trailer when needed.
- Possess good organizational and communication skills.
- Must be responsible, dependable and safety focused.
- Able to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
- To perform the duties of the position as required, must have the ability to handle prolonged periods of standing, walking, moving and lifting.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather.
- Willing to work off hours 3:00am-9:00am Monday – Saturday. On call for snow removal operations.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb inclines for the duration of the shift.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather.

Hourly Hiring Range: $22.50/hr. - $27.00/hr.
This range reflects the base pay we reasonably expect to offer for this position at the time of posting, considering current market conditions and industry benchmarks.
