Position Overview
The Front Desk Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and families visiting our pediatric dental practice. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming environment, managing patient scheduling, handling phone communications, verifying insurance information, and supporting daily administrative operations. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and enjoys working with children and parents in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and parents warmly and check them in/out for appointments
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software
- Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and route messages appropriately
- Verify and update patient demographics, medical history, and insurance information
- Collect co-payments, balances, and process payments
- Assist with insurance verification and pre-authorizations when needed
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Coordinate patient flow with clinical staff to ensure efficient scheduling
- Send appointment reminders and follow up on missed appointments
- Manage front office supplies and maintain a clean, organized reception area
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a receptionist, customer service, or healthcare administrative role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and scheduling software)
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
