POSITION SCOPE
The Buyer/Crib Attendant is responsible for managing purchasing activities and tool crib operations to ensure uninterrupted plant performance. This role owns the sourcing, procurement, and replenishment of materials, while maintaining accurate inventory control and efficient distribution of parts and supplies through the tool crib.
The position ensures optimal stock levels, drives cost-effective purchasing decisions, and supports internal customers by providing timely access to the materials required for production and maintenance. Through effective use of QAD and EAM systems, the role maintains data integrity, supplier performance, and inventory accuracy, while contributing to cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing
- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities to support uninterrupted plant operations.
- Review, validate, and process requisitions; convert approved requisitions into purchase orders in EAM.
- Source suppliers, obtain quotations, and evaluate pricing, quality, and delivery to ensure best value.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and lead times to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Actively identify cost reduction opportunities and support cost savings initiatives.
- Monitor supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery) and drive corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct periodic supplier reviews and audits, support supplier development efforts.
- Ensure timely placement of stock and non-stock purchase orders based on demand and inventory levels.
- Partner with production, maintenance, and other departments to understand requirements and align purchasing strategy.
Inventory & Tool Crib Management
- Own and maintain the tool crib inventory system within EAM.
- Receive, store, and issue tools, parts, and supplies in a controlled and organized manner.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels using EAM and physical verification.
- Initiate replenishment actions to prevent stockouts while minimizing excess inventory.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking of damaged, worn, or missing items.
- Investigate and report inventory discrepancies, losses, or policy violations promptly.
- Prepare inventory and usage reports to support operational and purchasing decisions.
Systems & Data Integrity
- Utilize EAM, QAD, barcode scanners, and related systems to ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Maintain data integrity across purchasing and inventory systems, including item masters, pricing, and supplier records.
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of receipts, issues, and purchase transactions.
Accounts Payable & Financial Coordination
- Reconcile supplier invoices and packing slips against purchase orders and receipts, in support of AP.
- Enter packing slips into EAM for Accounts Payable processing.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and respond to supplier inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized AP/AR documentation and records.
Internal Customer Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal customers regarding purchasing and tool crib needs.
- Provide guidance on part selection, availability, and sourcing options.
- Train and support users on requisition creation and purchasing procedures.
- Ensure responsive service to meet operational demands.
Compliance, Continuous Improvement & Teamwork
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Support and drive continuous improvement in purchasing, inventory control, and tool crib processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support plant objectives.
- Model and uphold company core values.

CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, and WORK EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience using a computer to perform basic job functions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (primarily Microsoft Excel)
- Experience using EAM software or similar ERP preferred.
- A minimum of a high school diploma and two (2) years of related experience.
- Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing.

- Possess good physical stamina and coordination. Specific physical requirements of the position include the ability to continuously and repetitively:
