Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented. The SW Washington Employment & Benefits Specialist (EBS) works with the staff and management of Cascade AIDS Project (CAP to provide high-quality, coordinated, strengths-based social services consistent with the agency’s mission. The individual works on CAP’s SW Washington team to provide individuals living with HIV employment and benefits navigation support. This requires maintaining an awareness of cultural challenges and developing effective relationships with a diverse client population and community partners throughout the service and surrounding areas.
This is a Full-Time role (32 Hours a week) working at our CAP Vancouver office and will travel throughout the Clark, Skamania, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, and Multnomah County service area for meetings and client home-and-community-visits. A state-issued driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required. The schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work required.
Starting pay is $29.18 an hour which is equivalent to just over $48,547. The SW WA Employment & Benefits Specialist’s pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $33.99. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in human/social services field (social work, public or community health, psychology) or related field OR two years’ experience relevant to the position
- Prior experience providing case management (or similar) services
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of the internet
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- Strong understanding of issues relevant to gay/bi/trans men, people living with HIV and AIDS, communities of color, and the LBGTQ community and how those issues affect or influence service delivery
What You’ll Do
- Work collaboratively with Medical Case Managers, CAP’s Housing and other service providers to develop individual client goal plans and provide support to clients in carrying out their goal plans.
- Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation, delivery and evaluation of CAP’s benefits and employment program to ensure quality of the program and its delivery.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with community workforce development and area service providers to create new employment resources and partnerships that best support clients and the overall agency.
- Assist in the development of culturally appropriate programs and the recruitment of clients for those services and programs.
- Assist clients with identifying and navigating community resources that help promote employment readiness and success in both group and one-on one settings.
- Present to clients, staff, external partners and employers on issues affecting PLWHA and people at high risk of HIV returning to work.
