Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Senior Director of People and Culture. The Senior Director of People and Culture (SDPC) will lead the organization’s people and culture team and support equity initiatives to create a sustainable and healthy organizational culture that aligns with CAP’s core values and strategic direction. This includes CAP’s commitment to being a high-functioning, supportive, diverse, anti-racist, equitable, and inclusive organization.  

The people and culture team, including two (2) P&C Business Partners, the HR and Payroll Administrator, the Volunteer Manager, and the P&C Generalist, will report to the Senior Director of People and Culture for day-to-day supervision. The SDPC will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be part of the Executive Leadership Team.  

 

This is a Full-Time role working at our Davis St. location in the Old Town area of Portland. Some travel to our other offices may be required. The schedule for this role is a Hybrid Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm 3 days in office and 2 days work from home.  

Starting pay for this position is $115,000 a year.  

 

  

Who You Are 

  • Certified as either SHRM-SCP or SPHR or ability and commitment to obtain this.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or commensurate experience (2 years of additional managerial HR work experience);  
  • At least 8 years of senior / executive level human resource experience preferably at a nonprofit, healthcare organization with at least 100 employees;  
  • A deep understanding of Human Resource compliance in both Oregon and Washington;  
  • Experience that demonstrates fluency engaging with communities of color, LGBTQ communities, and communities impacted by HIV OR a willingness to learn about these communities;  
  • Direct experience supervising a team;  
  • Direct experience with labor relations preferably at a nonprofit organization;   
  • Exceptional leadership, project management, and organizational skills;  

 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Function as a strategic advisor to the ELT on key organizational and management issues.  
  • In partnership with the P&C Business Partners, lead and manage all aspects of labor relations;  
  • Lead union bargaining initiatives and provide strategic guidance and support to Managers and P&C Business Partners on union-related matters;  
  • In partnership with the ELT and P&C Business Partners, help define the overarching vision, identity, and strategy to continually strengthen CAP’s culture and practices and meet organizational goals;  
  • Create and implement organizational development initiatives that enhance CAP’s workplace culture;   
  • Participate and engage in trainings, workshops, and team discussions.  
  • Utilize Asana project management software to organize and lead projects for the P&C team;  
  • Manage annual and multi-year projects for the P&C team;  
  • On occasion, prepare monthly and quarterly reports on organizational progress for the ELT (e.g. CEO, CFO), Board, and others as needed.
