Medical Director / Physician β Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC)
Part Time 20 hours per week
Hybrid Schedule: Days and Hours TBD, Occasional onsite work is required.

The Medical Director/Physician provides psychiatric and medical leadership within the Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center, serving individuals experiencing acute mental health, substance use, and co-occurring behavioral health crises. This role combines direct patient care with program oversight to ensure safe, effective, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented treatment services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate.
- Provide crisis intervention, psychiatric stabilization, and oversight of withdrawal management services.
- Perform risk assessments related to suicide, self-harm, violence, psychosis, and other acute behavioral health concerns.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment, discharge planning, and continuity of care.
- Provide consultation and supervision to medical and clinical staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilization review, policy development, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Ensure services meet NYS OMH, OASAS, Medicaid, Joint Commission/CARF, and organizational standards.
- Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled.
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist preferred.
- Physicians certified/eligible in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice with significant behavioral health experience may be considered.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience treating individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders preferred.
- Experience in crisis stabilization, emergency psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, withdrawal management, or integrated behavioral health settings strongly preferred.
- Current New York State physician license required; Pennsylvania license preferred.
- DEA registration required.
- Buprenorphine prescribing capability and MAT experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, clinical assessment, communication, and EMR skills required.
