What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNA Apprentice position at Carteret Health Care?
The patient safety observer is a member of the healthcare team. The observer is responsible for monitoring one or more assigned patients on a designated unit for a specific time period. The role of the observer is to monitor the patient for safety. Assist with room turnover, emptying of trash, linen changes, PPE restocking. Assist with patient transport. Support the department staff as a resource runner and delivering needed items between departments.
Professional
High school education or equivalent preferred.
Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification preferred

Stamina – Capable of standing/walking for long periods of time (2-4 hours).

Free lifting 50 pounds.
Pushing stretchers/beds under loads of 200–500 pounds, with assistance.
Reflexes/Agility – Minimally capable of:
Frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, during shift.
Responding to sudden, unexpected movements of patients.
Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies; i.e., chemical spills (medications, IV fluids), infectious exposures, patient contact, needles/syringes, waste handling (bodily fluids), medical equipment.
Hearing and Visual Acuity Dexterity
Handwriting skills to facilitate documentation for patient care, handling of equipment, and laboratory specimens. Visual acuity/color perception that permits patient assessment, monitoring
