Responsibilities
- Assist delivery drivers with loading and unloading packages using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks.
- Support route driving by helping to organize deliveries and ensuring timely completion of scheduled stops.
- Safely load, secure, and unload items, adhering to safe lifting practices and weight handling guidelines in the workplace.
- Help maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with drivers regarding route changes or delivery instructions.
- Operate mobile devices for route navigation, delivery confirmations, and communication with dispatch teams.
- Follow all traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations during route driving to ensure safety on the road.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting with product placement, answering basic questions, and ensuring a positive delivery experience.
Requirements
- Prior warehouse experience or familiarity with warehouse operations is preferred.
- Experience in commercial driving or personal vehicle delivery is a plus; familiarity with box trucks or commercial trucks is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission vehicles is desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely; knowledge of safe lifting practices is essential.
- Experience operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or moving equipment is beneficial.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, traffic laws, and weight handling in the workplace to ensure compliance and safety.
- Strong communication skills for effective route driving, customer interaction, and team coordination.
