Responsibilities
- Work with students in either one to one, pairs and/or small group tutorials teaching reading concepts and strategies using the Orton- Gillingham approach within the Carroll School language curriculum.
- Meet regularly with classroom teachers and Department Head to share information about each student’s acquisition of language skills and overall performance
- Research and select learning materials and books to facilitate tutoring; design individualized multi-sensory materials
- Administer curriculum based assessments designed to measure student progress
- Completes reports addressing progress and areas of concern as part of the trimester report writing system
- Participate in school sponsored professional development days and continue to advance to the Certified Level of Orton-Gillingham training
- Attend regularly scheduled departmental meetings and all faculty meetings as needed
- Attend parent conferences three times a year or as needed.
- Participate in child studies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned (ex: recess duties, library coverage, activity days)
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least one to three years working with children in an academic setting
- Associate Level Orton-Gillingham training course with practicum
- Prior knowledge or willingness to train on standardized test administration techniques and procedures
- Ability to teach using multisensory methods of instruction
