Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Copper Recovery Machine Operator to operate and monitor industrial equipment used to recover high-purity copper from insulated wire. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, attentive to detail, and committed to maintaining a safe and efficient production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the copper recovery machine and supporting equipment.
- Load insulated wire into the processing system according to established procedures.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust operating parameters as needed to maintain production quality and efficiency.
- Inspect recovered copper and separated insulation to ensure material quality standards are met.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment issues or production abnormalities.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and daily equipment inspections.
- Keep accurate records of production, material throughput, downtime, and maintenance activities.
- Safely operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company housekeeping standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory movement and material staging as needed.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and maintenance personnel to maximize equipment uptime.
- Assist in demanufacturing of parts and wire in downtime
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous manufacturing, recycling, warehouse, or industrial equipment experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to recognize equipment issues.
- Ability to safely stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
- Forklift certification
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating shredders, granulators, conveyors, or other industrial processing equipment.
- Basic preventative maintenance knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining production goals.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials.
- Stand and walk for much of the workday.
- Work around moving machinery, dust, and industrial noise while wearing the required PPE.
