Position Overview:

The Field Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing our centrifuge equipment at customer sites. The technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our products, ultimately contributing to customer satisfaction and loyalty.

What you will do:

  • Installation and Commissioning: Install, test, and commission new centrifuge equipment at customer sites, ensuring proper setup and functionality according to agreed-to specifications (standard or custom).
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on centrifuge equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This may include cleaning, calibration, and routine inspections.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and failures, utilizing engineering drawings, technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and expertise to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Field Upgrades and Modifications: Install field upgrades and modifications to existing equipment as required, ensuring compatibility and adherence to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Customer Training: Provide training to customers on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of centrifuge equipment, empowering them to effectively utilize and take basic care of their equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of service activities, including service reports, work orders, and parts usage. Provide detailed reports to leadership and customers as needed.
  • Customer Support: Respond promptly to customer service calls and inquiries, providing remote support when possible and onsite assistance as needed to resolve technical issues.
  • Parts Sales: Recommend replacement and/or spare parts for purchase by customers.
  • Adherence to Safety Standards: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working in customer environments, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and others.

What you bring:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma with 5 years of relevant experience
  • Associate degree or technical certificate in electro-mechanical technology (or similar), plus 3 years of relevant experience

Required Aptitude/Skills:

  • Technical Skills: Strong technical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems. Ability to read and interpret technical documents (e.g.- engineering drawings, manuals, BOMs, etc.).
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Writing Ability: Ability to write clear service reports and business correspondence.
  • Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in performing installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Flexibility: Ability to travel extensively to customer sites, sometimes on short notice, and work flexible hours as needed to meet customer needs.
  • Physical: Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs individually; more via team lift)
  • Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
  • Passport: A valid passport (or the ability to get one)
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Electronics Technician (CET) are a plus.
  • Language: English is primary; multilingual skills are a plus.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in electro-mechanical technology (or similar), plus 3 years of relevant experience

Compensation

The approximate pay range for this position is $85,000–$110,000 annually. Please note that the pay range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location.
