Carpenter Co. has a 12 week Research and Development summer internship at our Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia. This full time internship position will begin May 26, 2026.
As the successful intern, you will be providing lab research functions under the guidance and supervision of a senior mentor. Throughout the internship you will conduct basic lab experiments.
Your additional responsibilities as Research Intern will include:
- Generate QDa results for new products being produced in the Pilot Plant
- Introduce varying levels of polymeric and non-polymeric impurities into polyols and determine the sensitivity for detection
- Document findings in report format
Skills/ Requirements
- Minimum H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Completion of 2 years of college or university in Chemistry with minimum 2.75 GPA
- Completion of 2 semesters of college laboratory curriculum
- Able to perform rudimentary chemical lab experiments under management and safety direction
- Basic understanding and use of Microsoft Office suite
- Good written and oral communication skills
