Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Traffic Manager at our
Tupelo/Verona, MS manufacturing plant. This position will oversee, direct, and manage the operation of the Traffic Department, and ensure compliance with efficiency, safety, and quality standards.

As the successful candidate, The Traffic Manager has regular/daily communications with other Departments (including but not limited to A/P, Bedding, Corporate, Customer Service/Quality, Fiber/Filtration, Foam Mfg., Furniture Mfg., Human Resources, IT, Maintenance, and Pouring), Dispatcher, Guard House, customers, carriers, and the Division and Plant Manager. This position reports to the Plant Manager. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all organizational and legal expectations while upholding a high standard of safety.

Your Additional Responsibilities As The Traffic Manager Will Include
- Ensure adherence to safety guidelines, employee handbook, company policies and procedures, and other standards.
- Maintain acceptable attendance.
- Maintain orderly and clean work area.
- Maintain knowledge of best practices and regulations related to transportation.
- Oversee the transport and delivery of finished goods.
- Direct dispatching and routing activities and tracks transportation vehicles.
- Ensure customer difficulties or problems are investigated and resolved.
- Review common carriers pricing and service standards.
- Keep drivers, Scheduler/Dispatcher and Guard House informed.
- Detect issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
- Review and approve employee time records on a daily and/or bi-weekly basis.
- Provide timely feedback, direction and development on employees.
- Ensure compliance with administrative procedures, including paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Management, or similar preferred; or equivalent management work experience is required.
- Two (2)-Four (4) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects or logistics operations simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues that arise during project execution or transportation processes.
- Basic computer skills are required; must be familiar with Microsoft Office Software, Word and Excel; must have a good working knowledge of SAP.
- Strong organizational and negotiating experience.
