Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 1
st shift Dispatcher in the Traffic Department at our
Tupelo/Verona, MS manufacturing plant. This position will communicate and interface with drivers, customers, and multiple management levels to coordinate shipping activities.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. As a Dispatcher, the successful candidate will be expected to coordinate the assignment of drivers, trailers, and tractors with the shipping and transportation needs of this facility and its customers, to ensure efficient and expedient delivery of customer orders.

Your Additional Responsibilities As The Dispatcher Traffic Will Include
- Maintain guard logs of visitors in and out of plant.
- Keeping plant gates closed when there is no through traffic.
- Maintain morning shipment confirmation.
- Dispatch drivers to deliver customer products efficiently in a timely manner.
- Maintain Record Keeping, such as but not limited to trip sheets, shipping and traffic records, and billing reports.
- Maintain continuing basic knowledge of DOT regulations as outlined in the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations (FMSCR) and other state and local regulations.
- Address customer complaints concerning drivers, delivery times, service, or product returns on a day-to-day basis.
- Handle numerous incoming calls from various departments, customers, drivers, vendors, and carriers.
- Issue POs for parts/breakdowns/repairs & open/close work orders.
- Responsible for monthly safety meetings and turning in proper paperwork to Safety Manager.
- Coordinate with the docks concerning the use of the different trailer types available.
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid Class A CDL.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- 1 years of dispatching experience in logistics or transportation.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Ability to drive a spot truck.
- Able to manage multiple projects or logistics operations simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiar with DOT regulations.
- Basic computer skills are required; must be familiar with Microsoft Office Software, Word and Excel; SAP knowledge is a plus.
