Permanent Substitute Teacher (LMS)

JOB SUMMARY: This position is to provide classroom coverage and instruction as assigned when the regular classroom teacher is absent. The permanent substitute must be confident in teaching a wide range of developmental age groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum qualification is a high school diploma and an AA degree or 48 college credits or a passing score on the Parapro Assessment.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to speak and write effectively and correctly.
• Indications of excellent human relations skills.
• Possess the ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Follow lesson plans, assignments, and instructional materials.
• Flexible and willing to adapt to change at a short notice.
• Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning.
• Ability to teach day-to-day assignments or longer-term assignments.
• Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process.
• Enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
• Maintains regular, on-time attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned

PAY & HOURS: This position is a half-time position for benefit purposes with a maximum of 33.75 hours a week. Placement on the Caroline County Board of Education Support Services salary scale will be based on education and experience related to this position.
