What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permanent Substitute Teacher (NCHS) position at Caroline County Public Schools?
JOB SUMMARY: This position is to provide classroom coverage and instruction as assigned when the regular classroom teacher is absent. The permanent substitute must be confident in teaching a wide range of developmental age groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum qualification is a high school diploma and an AA degree or 48 college credits or a passing score on the Parapro Assessment.
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to speak and write effectively and correctly.
- Indications of excellent human relations skills.
- Possess the ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow lesson plans, assignments, and instructional materials.
- Flexible and willing to adapt to change at a short notice.
- Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning.
- Ability to teach day-to-day assignments or longer-term assignments.
- Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process.
- Enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned

PAY & HOURS: This position is a half-time position for benefit purposes with a maximum of 33.75 hours a week. Placement on the Caroline County Board of Education Support Services salary scale will be based on education and experience related to this position.
