Food Services Finance Assistant

JOB SUMMARY: This is a contractual position under general supervision, create and maintain the accounting records for the using the efinance system and excel for P&L. Reconcile all accounts as needed. Interface with CCPS finance office and auditors. Assist the Food Service Supervisor in running and customizing reports that provide business analysis and results. Perform banking functions as required. Food services grant tracking and reporting. Track USDA foods use.

Minimum Requirements of the Position:

• Preferred two years community college business degree with bookkeeping or accounting courses
• Knowledge and experience with QuickBooks
• Excellent knowledge of computers and the Internet. Work fluently with MAC, email, browsers, Windows operating systems, and PCs.
• Ability and knack for working with numerical data. Attention to detail.
• Accurate knowledge of double entry bookkeeping is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of business and accounting terms such as profit, ROI, assets, liabilities,
• Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of general office procedures, such as copying, faxing, filing, and shredding.
• Innovative and creative in the form of continuous improvement to internal processes.
• Flexible and adaptable to change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

• Maintain P&L monthly, year to date, yearly comparison for Food Services, shore gourmet, mobile market and back pack program.
• Provide input on yearly budget and budget request
• Understand the account and company setup steps and maintain a general knowledge of the major areas of efinance for the food services department
• Set up grants with finance department for account codes. Track progress of spend down on  grants received.
• Customize reports for the department, board, finance department outside accounting experts, government agencies, and other interested parties. These reports includes account balances, profit and loss figures, and transactional reports.
• Reconcile bank accounts for the cafeterias.

PAY & HOURS:  This is a 12 month contractual position with a minimum of 5-10 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Support Services Personnel Salary Schedule.
