The Estimator II is responsible for preparing estimates for a variety of projects. This role involves analyzing blueprints, performing quantity take-offs, and developing accurate project bids. The Estimator II works closely with the estimating team, Project Managers, and other field supervisors to ensure all project components are properly evaluated and coordinated. This position serves as a key contributor in supporting project planning and execution through detailed and timely estimates.

Estimating
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Gather, calculate, and compile data for use in bid proposal estimates
- Prepare routine estimates with some supervision; prepare more complex estimates
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for the defined scope of work
- Submit bids and proposals for estimated projects, following review by Manager
- Prepare estimate breakdowns; provide information to Project Manager
- Complete and submit internal documentation with all required supporting information
- Assist estimating team with additional tasks as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information from suppliers through direct contact, printed materials, brochures, and price lists
- Coordinate with vendors as needed to ensure accurate material pricing for estimates
- Maintain detailed, current records of all estimate-related documentation, including drawings, correspondence, and schedules
- Keep project files and drawings well-organized and up to date
- Recommend and implement improvements to estimating processes, procedures, and software systems to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
- Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Higher education OR equivalent experience preferred
- Experience within the construction (specifically electrical construction) industry preferred
- Ability to read and understand various construction documents
- Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
- Strong self-motivation, work ethic, and drive for career growth
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the company and customers
- Office environment, requiring sitting and standing and extended amounts of time using a computer/keyboard at a single workstation.
