Position Summary
The Board of Directors provides strategic direction, governance, and support to ensure the organization fulfills its mission and operates with integrity, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. Board members serve as ambassadors for the choir and actively contribute their time, expertise, and resources to strengthen the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Leadership
- Attend and actively participate in monthly in-person board meetings (typically the third
- Thursday of each month) and occasional ad-hoc or committee meetings.
- Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and oversight of organizational
- performance.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards and adherence to the organization’s mission and bylaws.
Financial Stewardship
- Approve annual budgets and monitor financial health.
- Participate in fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation and event support.
- Make a personally meaningful financial contribution annually.
Advocacy & Ambassadorship
- Promote the organization in the community and help expand its network of supporters, audiences, and partners.
- Attend and support performances, fundraisers, and special events.
Qualifications
- Passion for choral music, the performing arts, and community engagement.
- Prior nonprofit, arts, or board experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community representation.
- Ability to commit an estimated 4–6 hours per month (including meetings, preparation, and events).
