Job Title: Line Lead – Poultry Processing Plant
Location: Florence, SC
Department: Production
Reports To: Production Supervisor / Production Manager
Position Summary:
The Line Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production line to ensure efficiency, product quality, employee safety, and compliance with company and USDA standards. This position provides direction and support to line employees, coordinates workflow, monitors performance, and ensures production goals are met or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Line Management
- Supervise and coordinate the work of employees on the assigned processing line.
- Ensure production schedules, yield goals, and quality standards are met.
- Set up the line for daily operations, including materials, tools, and equipment readiness.
- Monitor product flow, equipment performance, and line speed to maintain efficiency.
- Communicate issues (mechanical, quality, staffing, etc.) promptly to supervisors or maintenance.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with HACCP, GMP, and SSOP procedures.
- Verify that products meet company quality and USDA regulatory standards.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to address deviations or product concerns.
- Help maintain clean and sanitary work areas throughout the shift.
Leadership & Training
- Lead by example to promote a safe, respectful, and productive work environment.
- Train, coach, and guide new and existing employees on job tasks and safety requirements.
- Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to supervisors.
- Support cross-training and employee development within the department.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety rules and ensure all employees wear required PPE.
- Report and help investigate safety incidents or near-misses.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, USDA regulations, and local safety standards.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in poultry or food manufacturing, including some leadership or team lead experience.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of poultry processing operations and product flow.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and USDA regulations preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead a diverse workforce.
- Basic computer skills (for production reporting and timekeeping systems).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Work in a cold, wet, and fast-paced environment.
- Use of knives, tools, and PPE required.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, occasional Saturdays)
- Overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production needs.
