Position Summary: The LPN Program Nurse will play a crucial role in the delivery of compassionate care to individuals undergoing detoxification from substances such as alcohol, opioids, and other drugs. The LPN Program nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety, comfort, and medical stability throughout the detox process. Responsibilities include conducting patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, administering medications as prescribed, and providing patient and family education on substance use disorder and recovery.

Essential Functions

● Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and withdrawal symptoms using standardized protocols, intervening as necessary to maintain safety and comfort. Educate the client on medications and potential medication side effects.

● Document assessments and observations accurately and in a timely manner, reporting any changes in condition to the physician or clinical team.

● Administer prescribed medications to manage withdrawal symptoms and ensure compliance with established detox protocols.

● Monitor for potential adverse reactions or side effects of medications, implementing corrective actions when necessary.

● Adhere to all state, federal, and organizational policies, procedures, and regulations related to nursing care and patient safety.

● Complete incident reports and other required paperwork promptly as needed.

● Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team to promote team approach to client care; communicate any patient concerns or changes in medical condition to the appropriate team members promptly.

● Educate patients and families on the detoxification process, potential withdrawal symptoms, and available recovery resources.

● Provide guidance on medication usage, coping strategies, and self-care tips for after discharge.

● Participate in continuous quality improvement and training initiatives to stay updated on best practices in substance abuse treatment.

● Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, and care outcomes in KIPU EMR; electronic medical record system.

● Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications

● Current, Valid LPN License in the State of North Carolina.

● BLS/CPR certification required

● Completion of all training and education requirements necessary to maintain valid, active licensure.

● Previous experience in addiction treatment setting or with treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders preferred.

● Excellent Professional References.

Skills/ Competencies ● Proficient in Microsoft Office and EMR software. ● Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. ● Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills. ● Knowledge of detoxification processes, withdrawal symptoms, and pharmacology for substance abuse treatment. ● Organization and time-management skills. ● Ability to prioritize and multi-task. ● Critical thinking skills; Ethical decision-making abilities.

Other Requirements

● First Aid/CPR Certified or obtained during 30 days.

● Ability to work independently in facility and alternate site settings.

● May need to assume a flexible work schedule.

● Valid Driver’s License; Reliable, Independent Transportation.

● Submit to and pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

● Completion of all continuing education and training as required by company requirements, regulatory agencies, and professional licensing board.

Salary : $30 - $34
