This position is primarily responsible for inspecting the utility pump stations on the assigned route by completing the following responsibilities. The hours are 6:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Thursday, with a half day Friday. Overtime is available if needed. While local travel is required, there is no overnight travel. Must live within 50 miles of York, SC.

Primary Role and Responsibilities

Lift Station Inspection

  • Visit every lift station on the route every week for an inspection.
  • Visually check in and around the lift station per standard operating procedure.
  • Open the wet well, control panel, generator (as applicable), dry can (as applicable), and telemetry system and inspect per the standard operating procedure.
  • Inspect the generator per the standard operating procedure.
  • Inspect the dry can per the standard operating procedure.
  • Document pump and generator hours in station log book, along with other required information.
  • Verify that pumps and generator are in “Auto” and that all panels, generator, wet well, and fence are closed and locked prior to departure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Basic math skills required
  • Basic mechanical skills required
  • Must have a driver’s license and the ability to be covered under the company’s auto insurance
  • Experience using basic hand tools required
  • Proven experience in working alone
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal instruction or direction

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Frequently required to use hands to manipulate objects
  • Frequently required to talk or hear
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to work in an outside environment in heat, cold, rain, and other potentially extreme weather
  • Frequently required to lift and / or move up to 75 pounds
  • Frequently required to walk up and down hills, and to climb up and down ladders
  • The noise level is usually moderate
  • Specific vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment
  • Required to wear safety gear

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
