Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging lesson plans and curricula tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
- Teach four Spanish classes to upper-school students, covering levels from introductory to advanced.
- Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Spanish and improve pronunciation and comprehension.
- Teaching students about Spanish culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
- Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
- Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
- Support residential life if needed as a dorm parent, overseeing student well-being, safety, and community engagement.
- Serve as an advisor for students ensuring student success.
Spanish Teacher Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish required.
- 3-5 years of previous teaching experience.
- No teaching license or credential is required.
- Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
- Willingness to assist with sports teams or extracurricular activities.
Additional Desired Qualities:
- Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
- Ability to teach an additional language preferred.
