Middle School Assistant Librarian Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the middle school library, ensuring an organized, welcoming, and student-focused learning environment.
- Foster a library environment that utilizes current research practices and aligns student interests.
- Support and engage faculty in using information literacy resources and integrating information literacy skills into classroom instruction.
- Collaborate with faculty members to design and implement lessons that promotes information literacy skills.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to further develop and enrich professional skills.
- Stay current on best practices in information literacy, library science, and instructional technologies.
- Oversee book circulation and collection upkeep, including check-in/check-out processes, maintaining material condition, and overseeing inventory records.
- Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.
Middle School Assistant Librarian Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required. Master of Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) strongly preferred.
- At least 3 years of library or teaching experience.
- Passion for working with middle school students.
- Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
- U.S. Work Authorization required.
