Responsibilities of Lower School Librarian & Digital Literacy Specialist:
- Teach weekly library courses for PK3-Grade 5 students that promotes inquiry, creativity, and a love for reading.
- Implement instructional practices that fosters students' information literacy and critical thinking skills.
- Develop curriculum that hones skillset in digital literacy, digital safety, media evaluation, online kindness, and early digital citizenship.
- Partner with teachers to integrate library resources into everyday coursework.
- Develop professional development opportunities for faculty to expand skillset in research methods, information literacy, and utilizing library resources effectively.
- Curate and manage a diverse, inclusive print and digital library collection.
Requirements of Lower School Librarian & Digital Literacy Specialist:
- Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent advanced degree.
- 3-5 years of previous experience working with elementary and/or early childhood students.
- Knowledge of children’s literature, early literacy development, and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver information literacy curriculum.
- U.S. Work Authorization required.
Additional Desired Qualities:
- Familiarity with AASL, ISTE, and Common Sense Education standards.
- Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
