Pittsburgh, PA Full Time
POSTED ON 8/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/27/2026
The Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy consists of two schools - the School of Public Policy and Management and the School of Information Systems and Management - and offers an academic experience unlike any other. Heinz College prepares students with a unique ability to conduct careful and objective analysis of relevant data, to understand and demonstrate the power of information technology, and to lead and implement change in managerial and policy contexts. As the division grows, we are seeking an Assistant Director of Stewardship and Annual Giving to join the team.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Partnerships and Advancement, this role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of prospective donors, managing the annual giving program, and overseeing and administering stewardship and donor relations initiatives for the college.

Core responsibilities include:

Annual Giving:

  • Strategic management of a specific annual giving program and the coordination of these programs with leadership annual giving, major giving, leadership and principal giving, planned giving, alumni relations, accounts receivable programs, and other college-based annual giving programs throughout the university.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the annual fund programs including specific segments based on giving level or strategic initiative, solicitations (direct mail, e-mail, special campaigns), the telemarketing program, monitoring of results, determining strengths and weaknesses of various programs and modification of plans and strategies to assure achievement of annual fundraising goals.

Stewardship:

  • Overseeing the creation, administration, and implementation of stewardship and donor relations initiatives for the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.
  • Partnering with the Chief Advancement Officer and development staff to design strategies and manage the execution of endowed and annual fund establishment, usage monitoring, stewardship reporting, and donor-focused communications.
  • Orchestrating donor engagement programs and events to facilitate meaningful engagement. Serves as the primary liaison to ensure seamless coordination between University Donor Relations and Heinz College.

Individual Giving:

  • Overseeing a designated portfolio containing 25 to 50 prospective donors for Heinz College, focusing on individuals with a projected gift potential of $25,000 or less.
  • Executing the complete sequence of donor relations, including the initial identification, ongoing cultivation, formal solicitation, and subsequent stewardship of prospects.
  • Personal outreach through visits, supplemented by targeted communications via mail, telephone, and electronic platforms, or through volunteer coordination.
  • Developing and refining strategic activities for leadership annual and Andrew Carnegie Society level gifts; defining the specific intent and financial target for contributions and partnering with necessary stakeholders to facilitate successful gift closures.
