The Regional Production Planner will be responsible for the production planning of multiple sites within Canada and the United States. This will encompass maintaining a complete understanding of the company’s key supply/demand dynamics, marketing and sales activities as well as its manufacturing plants and capabilities. Understanding the company’s inbound raw materials strategy and supply situation is also essential.
- Develop and drive implementation of strategies focused on satisfying existing customer demand and target market opportunities at the lowest possible total (production and transportation) cost
- Examination and analysis of plant versus plant manufacturing costs and capacities (i.e. network optimization), in consideration of point to point transportation costs and current/future customer demand. Participate in the ongoing Sales and Operations Planning (SOP) process
- Participate as a close liaison and cooperate with all industry sales and marketing groups and all manufacturing facilities
- Communicate support needed to internal groups to assure plan execution by all functions
- Participate in the Company’s Sales and Operations Planning (SOP) Process on daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly timeframes aligning customer demand with available production
- Drive Carmeuse plant network optimization through system implementation and process development
- Act as a key catalyst for site level improvements related to daily production scheduling systems and processes
- Play a key role in the implementation and maximization of the SAP production planning (PP) modules and associated processes
- Develop metrics to drive continuous improvement with respect to network optimization
- Actively participate in each of the company’s target market teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
- Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in production planning preferably of bulk material
- Strategic planning of multi-plant production systems and distribution networks is preferred
- Lean Manufacturing experience would be a significant plus
- Strong computers skills and SAP experience desired
- Travel is required 20 - 25% spread out equally over the calendar year
- Salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000, as well as an annual bonus plan
