Job Description: Mechanical Press Brake Operator (Steel Fabrication)Position Summary
The Press Brake Operator at Carman Industries is responsible for setting up and operating a mechanical press brake to bend and form steel components used in fabricated assemblies. The operator’s primary task is to use layout lines to form accurate parts efficiently while maintaining the company’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Set up and operate mechanical press brake machines to bend and form steel plate and sheet metal.
· Select and install appropriate dies, and tooling for specific bending operations.
· Measure and inspect parts using tape measures, and other measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
· Adjust machine settings and tooling to maintain required tolerances and part quality.
· Handle and move steel materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other shop equipment when required.
· Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
· Follow all shop safety procedures and company policies.
· Communicate with supervisors, welders, and other fabrication team members to ensure production efficiency.
Qualifications
· Previous experience operating a press brake in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints is preferred but not a requirement.
· Experience working with steel plate, sheet metal, and structural components.
· Ability to use basic measuring and layout tools accurately.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
· Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues.
· Ability to lift and handle steel materials and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment
This position operates in a steel fabrication shop environment and requires standing, bending, lifting, and handling metal materials. The operator may be exposed to noise, moving equipment, and other typical manufacturing conditions. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Pay: $24.42 - $29.40 per hour
