Duties

• Perform thorough cleaning of resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, hallways, and other designated spaces using appropriate cleaning techniques and equipment.
• Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens, clothing, and resident personal items with care to prevent damage or contamination.
• Follow strict safety protocols when handling chemical agents used for cleaning and sanitation to ensure a safe environment for staff and residents.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and steam cleaners efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
• Maintain proper documentation of cleaning schedules, laundry logs, and chemical usage in compliance with healthcare infection prevention protocols.
• Ensure all sanitation practices meet OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and healthcare facility housekeeping regulations.
• Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices to move supplies or equipment without injury.
• Support infection control measures by maintaining cleanliness in accordance with healthcare environment standards.

Experience

• Previous janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare facilities or hospitals is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with commercial cleaning techniques and environmental services best practices.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines related to chemical handling, manual handling, and workplace safety is essential.
• Experience operating cleaning machinery such as floor buffers or steam cleaners is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to follow detailed sanitation procedures and safety protocols consistently.
• Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with residents, staff, and visitors when needed.
• Prior work in long-term care or healthcare settings that emphasizes infection prevention and control is a plus.
