Duties
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage check-in and check-out procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily clinic flow
- Collect and verify patient information, insurance details, and medical histories in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Handle medical billing and collections, including insurance claims processing using health insurance knowledge like Medicare, ICD-10/ICD-9/ICD coding, CPT coding, and documentation review
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of electronic health records (EHR) and paper documents
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, providing excellent customer service and addressing patient inquiries promptly
- Assist with intake procedures, including documenting patient histories, updating care plans, and supporting clinical staff during patient visits
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially within chiropractic, dental, or hospital settings
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, health information management, and medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT) is essential for accurate documentation and billing processes
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, typing (10 key), data entry, and office management tasks
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence in fast-paced environments
- Familiarity with health insurance procedures including Medicare claims processing and understanding of clinical confidentiality policies
