Position Summary:

To effectively perform all of the required duties of the Oven Supervisor position within the Smoking & Cut Down departments in an accurate, thorough, and safe manner as outlined per the Carl Buddig and Company job description. The Oven Supervisor will be supervising employees in a meat manufacturing environment while responsible for producing a safe and quality food product per USDA guidelines. Some job duties include, but are not limited to, planning and assigning work, implementing policies and procedures, and recommending improvements in production methods, environment, operating procedures, and working conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
  • Supervise the Cut Down and Smoking Departments
  • Work with other department leaders in scheduling production
  • Assign personnel for Cut Down and Smoking departments
  • Anticipate production/scheduling problems and take corrective action
  • Ensure proper procedures and materials are being used.
  • Improve and maintain a high level or interdepartmental and intradepartmental communication
  • Continually improve the employee mentoring training program
  • Perform evaluations for Stuffing and Smoking department personnel
  • Assist in interviewing potential employees
  • Help assistant supervisors as needed
  • Schedule Smokehouse washdown
  • Schedule Cut Down washdown and change overs.
  • Take monthly SQF and safety training
  • Completes all required OPLs and job specific training in the department
  • Take responsibility in your work area to produce a safe and quality food product. Report all food safety and quality related problems to your manager or to the QA department to initiate immediate action.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
  • Must conduct data entry in Knowledge mine/redzone (quality checks, OEE Tracking, packaging pallet entries, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED is required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years related supervisory work experience is preferred.
  • Requires 3-5 years of manufacturing, high speed packaging, or food manufacturing experience
  • Requires a minimum of two to five years of successful leadership experience with a proven track record of positive interaction and ability to follow through with different levels of the company
  • Must be certified in forklift operation. Ability to use other industrial equipment is needed
  • Ability to legally work in the United States is required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to stand for 10 hours per day.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and squat as needed for housekeeping responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Must be highly attentive to detail (i.e. meat type/film/date).
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and perform metric conversions.
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Must be trained as an authorized employee under LOTO
  • Must have mechanical abilities.
  • Must be able to manage a team of employees.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or less.
  • Must be flexible and able to work as needed
  • Must be able to work in a high-speed packaging environment.

Pay range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.

Benefits for this role include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, FSA, HSA, 401(k) Plan with Company Match, Vacation & PTO, and Tuition Reimbursement. There is also a potential for a discretionary bonus this bonus is based on personal & company performance and is not a guaranteed bonus plan.

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
