About the Role
Caring Senior Service is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to serve as our Director of Nursing. This essential leadership position oversees all clinical aspects of care, ensures high-quality service delivery, and supports caregivers in fulfilling our mission of helping seniors remain healthy, happy, and at home. The DON reports directly to the Agency Director and plays a central role in promoting safe, individualized care for every client.

Key Responsibilities
Administrative
-
Review client files and caregiver documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Conduct interviews and assist with qualified nursing hires.

Participate in quarterly clinical record reviews and maintain compliance with individualized care plans.

Delegate tasks to in-home aides and provide clinical direction to non-clinical staff as needed.
Assessment

Evaluate clients’ physical condition, functional status, and care needs.

Develop and update individualized service plans following NJ regulations and nursing best practices.

Assess caregiver competency and ensure appropriate client-caregiver matching.
Collaboration
-
Supervise and train Nursing Supervisors and CHHAs.

Participate in caregiver orientation and train office staff to meet client needs.

Meet with families to gather information and support individualized care planning.
Evaluation & Quality Improvement

Monitor client conditions and report any significant changes.

Evaluate performance of Nursing Supervisors and caregivers and support ongoing development.

Participate in quality improvement efforts and maintain compliance with established standards of care.
On-Call Expectations

Participate in routine on-call duties.

Answer and respond promptly using the agency-issued mobile phone.

Maintain communication with caregivers and supervisory staff as needed.
Qualifications

Current RN license in good standing with the NJ Board of Nursing.

At least 2 years of RN experience in community health or home health with a BSN, or 3 years without.

Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Ability to adapt, work independently, and collaborate within a care team.

Comfort working with a flexible and varied schedule.
Schedule & Physical Requirements

Part-time schedule of approximately 30 hours weekly.

Flexible schedule with occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, drive a motorized vehicle, and sit/stand for extended periods.
-
Routine on-call participation required.
