What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Recreation and Activities position at Central Nursing?
The Director of Recreation and Activities is responsible for bringing enjoyment and quality of life to all residents. The Director of Recreation will plan, develop and direct the overall operation of the Therapeutic Recreation department.
Director of Recreation and Activities Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute recreational activities based on the needs and interests of the residents
- Encourages social interaction and communication between the residents through group recreation, and community interaction programs
- Facilitates recreational programs on an individual and group basis
- Provides individual intervention to residents based on personal needs and conditions
- Records resident attendance and participation level at recreation programs, writes progress notes, and attends care plan meetings as necessary
- Assists with admission assessments, MDS, care plans and progress notes
- Ensures that residents receive the highest quality of service in a warm and caring environment which recognizes the individuals' needs and capabilities
- Oversee and direct recreation staff, review payroll and schedule staff based on facility needs
- Performs other related job duties as required
Director of Recreation and Activities Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from an approved school in Recreational Therapy or a related field
- Must be a qualified recreation therapy specialist with three years' experience in a healthcare setting
- Must be computer-literate with Word, Outlook and basic software skills
- Experience with elderly and dementia-care preferred
