Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients, particularly in environments such as Level I and Level II Trauma Centers, teaching hospitals, and geriatrics. The Personal Care Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care to patients across different age groups and medical needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Provide support in mobility and transportation within the facility.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to hygiene protocols.
- Help with basic medical tasks under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
- Engage with patients through conversation and companionship to enhance their emotional well-being.
- Document patient care activities accurately in accordance with facility policies.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in settings such as inpatient units, emergency medicine departments, PICUs, and clinics.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving role or similar position is preferred.
- Familiarity with hospital medicine practices and protocols is advantageous.
- Knowledge of geriatrics or pediatric care is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as emergency medicine or trauma centers.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by healthcare regulations.
- Certification as a Personal Care Assistant or equivalent training is preferred but not mandatory.
