Behavioral Direct Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities

This position will support individuals with behavioral disabilities and provide daily living assistance.  The goal is to allow the individuals we serve to live more independently in a home environment by working with them to achieve their personal goals. Specific duties include:

• Support the specified behavior plans and de-escalating challenging behaviors.
• Connect individuals to activities in the community to support physical and mental health.
• Provide encouragement and coaching to support individuals learning skills for daily living.
• Monitor and maintain a safe and secure living environment.
• Assist individuals with medication needs (monitoring or distributing).
• Coach individuals on overall financial management.
• Assist with meal planning, shopping, and preparation to further the goal of healthy eating.
• Assist individuals with planning, shopping and engaging within the community.
• Support individuals with household tasks such as light cleaning, taking out trash, and laundry tasks.
• Document significant events throughout the shift including all medication administration.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

You will need to be at least 18 years of age and possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED to qualify.  Additional requirements include:

• A passion for supporting others, respect for individual differences, and the ability to advocate for others
• Sound judgment and good decision-making abilities
• A willingness to adapt and learn new skills 
• Valid driver's license in good standing

Salary : $15 - $18
