Dishwasher / Busser Job Description Location: Caribana Island Bar & Grill – Skokie, Illinois
Position Summary
The Dishwasher / Busser plays a critical support role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and smooth daily operations. This position supports both the kitchen and front-of-house teams by ensuring dishes, dining areas, and service stations are clean, sanitized, and ready to support an excellent guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans * Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness of dish area, floors, trash, and storage areas
- Clear and reset tables promptly during service
- Assist servers with refills, stocking, and food running when needed * Maintain cleanliness of dining room, bar area, and restrooms
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
- Restaurant experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs * Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
90-Day Probationary Expectations
All Dishwasher / Busser team members are subject to a 90-day probationary period. During this time, employees are expected to:
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrate proper sanitation and safety procedures
- Show reliability during scheduled shifts, including weekends and peak hours * Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Follow company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
Performance, attitude, and dependability will be evaluated at the end of the 90-day period to determine continued employment.
