Carex is partnering with a healthcare consulting firm partner to identify a Technical Program Manager, Design Systems. This role is remote with a strong preference for candidates located in the CST time zone. This individual will own the planning, execution, and delivery of a global design system across platforms and products, ensuring scalability, technical alignment, and consistent adoption. The position plays a critical role in translating design system strategy into structured, executable programs that enable product teams to move efficiently and confidently. The Technical Program Manager (TPM) for the global design system will lead cross-functional efforts to deliver high-quality, scalable design system capabilities. This role partners closely with design, engineering, product, and governance stakeholders to ensure alignment, drive execution, and maintain predictable delivery. The TPM will act as a central connector across teams, ensuring the design system is technically robust, well-governed, and widely adopted.

What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end program management for design system initiatives, including roadmap planning, milestone tracking, risk management, and delivery oversight
- Drive execution across multiple workstreams such as components, foundations, tooling, documentation, remediation, and adoption
- Establish clear success metrics, reporting frameworks, and communication cadences to ensure transparency and predictability
- Partner with UX, design, engineering, product, and platform teams to align on priorities, scope, and sequencing
- Facilitate cross-functional decision-making while maintaining alignment with overall design system vision
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between design system contributors and product teams
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure alignment with technical architectures, frameworks, and standards
- Track dependencies, platform constraints, and integration risks across applications
- Support alignment between coded components, design artifacts, and implementation patterns
- Help operationalize governance models, contribution workflows, and intake processes
- Enable adoption through coordinated rollout strategies, remediation planning, and change management
- Provide clear updates to stakeholders and leadership on progress, risks, and tradeoffs
- Translate complex technical and design system concepts into actionable plans
- 5–8 years of experience in Technical Program Management, Program Management, or a similar role
- Proven track record leading large, cross-functional programs across design, engineering, and product
- Strong understanding of front-end technologies, component-based architectures, and modern design systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple dependencies, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills
- Experience supporting or leading design systems, component libraries, or platform programs at scale (preferred)
- Familiarity with UX workflows, Figma, and design-to-code handoff processes
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and drive execution from strategy
